Shameek from TWO-12 were often called a ‘glop rock’ band back in 1982, but they described themselves as pioneers of Electrospandexfunkrock. The origin and meaning of the name are unknown. What is known is that it was preferred to former band names Jherri & Pillow Cases and The Activators.
